Wow!

Oh my gosh...there are so many happy running thoughts going through my head that I don't know where to start.  I am finally back at the point where running is fun...wow...didn't think I would ever get back to that.  I love it!  I made it throught 5 miles on Sunday...it was amazing!!!  I probably walked half a mile but I don't care...I did it!  I completed almost the fastest 2 miles of my life tonight.  Would have been faster but I don't know who stopped more...Harley to pee....or me to tie my shoes.  Any ideas on how to keep my shoes tied would be much appreciated!!
I made it to the green level on nike running.  I kind of miss my orange page but the green rocks also!
The Apple Festival 8K in Hendersonville is quickly approaching this weekend...YIKES!  I hope I can run the whole thing but I will be happy as long as I finish and hopefully don't come in last. :-)
The KP 5K is Sept 16...Ty is running with me...I love that!!!  and the theme for the Resurgens tent is......JIMMY BUFFETT!!!!  Have I told you lately that I absolutely love Atlanta.
There are sooo many races coming up that I can't decide which to do.
Oct 2: Lake Spive 15K/5K
Oct 16:  Run for the Cubs 5K
Oct 23: Race for the Cure in Macon and Goblin Gallop in McDonough (is running two races in one too much)
November 13: Undy 5000.

I'm also going to do the Disney Princess Half Marathon at the end of February!!  I'm super excited to not only do my first half marathon...but to do it at Disney World....and take Addie to Disney for the first time!!  It's going to be our first real family vacation :-)

Follow my progress as I train for it.  Today was 2 miles, Thursday is 3 miles, Saturday is the 8K.  I'll try to update before the 8K but definately after!

8K

Its official...I am registered for the Apple Festival 8K on September 4. This will be my longest race ever. Going to try to run 4 miles tomorrow morning...I think if I can do that I can make it 5 miles. I hope. And my new running shoes should be coming in the mail soon. I'm curious to see if I like them and will run in them or keep running in my handy dandy under armour ones. I am also only 14 miles away from the next color (green) on nikerunning.com. I am starting to enjoy running again which probably means the weather is about to turn for the worst. That will make me sad. I really look forward to coming home, eating dinner, putting Addie to bed, and going for a run. Although I need to figure out the dinner part. I am waaaaay too hungry to run right after work...but after eating dinner I am too full to run. Hmm...must try different things :)

Time to get moving

So...it is time to start running again. I have an 8K in 3 weeks and a 5K in mid September. I struggled through running a "5K" last week and barely made it through 3K today. I really need to get more motivated to run every day. I'm sure it will come just need the extra push to the end. Is it bad that I wanted to do a race a month and the first one of the year will be in September??? Oh well....
On a positive note though...the little amount of running that I am doing seems to have made my bridesmaid's dress fit a little better in the tummy section :)

Hopefully tomorrows run will go better...I think the goal will be 2.5 miles....

Run for Paws

March 28 1:30pm @ Fletcher Park. 5K to support non-kill shelter for all furry friends. I got my running buddy at a no-kill shelter and Vegas and although he eats things and takes the whole bed I wouldn't trade him for the world. I'll be running for Harley and to give another family the chance for the best pet ever! I'm running for Davidson too...but he came from the store :) Register on active.com $25
Oh yeah...and I know for some of you 100 miles is a drop in hat (Kristin) but for someone who had never run and usually cheated when I did more than a mile this will be quite the accomplishment :)
So I realize it is March and I haven't blogged at all since I started this thing....but it has not snowed this week!!! So I finally got out and ran Monday and Tuesday. Monday felt pretty good, a little tiring and went somewhere between 1.6 and 2 miles (my phone said 1.6 and my ipod said 2 miles) I pick 2 miles :) Wednesday was more of a struggle...trying to get my running legs back...had to walk some but finished a whole lap at Carrier Park. Hopefully I can get back into it and build up my endurance faster than when I first started running. Although I do feel that I have lost everything, since I have not run since the Turkey Trot.
Also, because of the snow I have fallen behind on my one race a month goal, but I have one scheduled for the end of March and.......just signed up for a 15K at the Biltmore Estate. If you had asked me to run 9.3 miles at this time last year, I would have laughed in your face. But now I had to pull strings to get into the race because it was full and I really want to do it. This is the last year that the Biltmore Race will take place. I am really excited because the entire course is on the Biltmore Estate and you run right past the house and start and finish at the winery. Any race that involves a winery can't be bad. Must step up the training though.
So Park Ridge Hospital, my employer, is celebrating its 100 year birthday today and has asked all employees to committ to 100. It can be 100 anything. I have decided that this year I will run 100 miles, maybe my running can inspire someone else to run and then someone else, and perhaps if more people start being active the obesity level, and specifically childhood obesity will begin to decrease. If anyone wants to help me run 100 miles, I plan to run Monday, Wednesday and Fridays at 12:00ish, usually starting at Carrier Park, at least until May. And I am always taking donations for races, especially in the fall when I will start running the Race for the Cure races :)

New Year's Resolution!

Hey! So I've decided to start a blog to follow my New Year's resolution of trying to stay in shape. My goal is to do at least one race a month, at least one triathalon, and one half marathon this year. This blog will track my training and help me keep my motivation. Please feel free to let me know about fun races and ideas to stay motivated!!!

So far today I'm feeling pretty sore from PowerX yesterday but I'm hitting up the gym at 2:00 with Emily. Probably going to elipitcize and take it easy today to recover :)

Trying to decide if I can do a 10k in a few weeks...but I haven't run in about a month and it is really cold out for me to try and run...hmm...I'll have to think about it.
